IMI Accredited Forensic Methods of VIN Recovery

The IMI Accredited Forensic Methods of VIN Recovery course is a specialised one-day program designed to teach participants the techniques for recovering original Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) or unique serial numbers that have been removed or ground out. This course combines both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure participants can effectively perform VIN recovery.

Develop a thorough understanding of the health and safety protocols that must be followed before, during, and after the re-etching process.

Learn how to set up a camera in manual mode to effectively photograph recovered identification numbers for documentation and evidence.

Casting Suspect VINs

Master the technique of accurately casting a suspect VIN number using Isomark and learn how to properly document the evidence.

Understand how to correctly document chemical or thermal restorations in legal statements, including considerations related to Public Interest Immunity (PII) issues. 

Course Format

This 2-day course offers a blend of theory and practical sessions. Participants are required to complete a workbook during the course and will take a multiple-choice examination at the end to assess their knowledge.
